History

1991

Our school was formerly known as‘TWGHs Tin King Day Nursery’which started service in 1991 to provide child care and educational services to families in need in Tuen Mun district.  The school was renamed to ‘TWGHs Fong Tam Yuen Leung Day Nursery in 1993 in recognition of the donation made by Fong Yun Wah Foundation in support of its service development.  To go in line with the harmonisation of pre-primary services, the school was registered as a Kindergarten-cum-Child Care Centre under Education Bureau in September 2005.

1998

To cultivate children’s whole-person development, our school has begun to develop emotional intelligence programme since 1998, and gradually established a caring culture in a systematic manner.  After years of continuous development, the school has created an environment which cultivates healthy emotional development, enabling children to feel love and respect with positive self-image, and have self-confidence in learning and care for the needs of the community.  In addition, TWGHs implements the ‘Grow Up with Respect and Confidence’ Education Programme for parents to let them master the knowledge of children’s growth, enhance parenting effectiveness and parent-child relationship, and create a family culture to foster children’s self-esteem and self-confidence.

2004

The school progressively implemented the ‘Stories In Class ’   and ‘Poetry In flow’ activities in 2004.  Through interactive communications, children speak what they think instantly and use stories to express their life experience and imagination .  Children’s interest in story-telling is enhanced through stories and poems creation, and they also learn to connect life with words, so as to reflect the vitality and fun of words through creation.

In 2009, the ‘Leap’ Body Education Programme co-established by The Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation and the Cloud Gate Dance School in Taiwan was introduced to the 15 kindergartens under TWGHs in Hong Kong as a regular programme.    The programme provides an artistic education platform to children for a healthy and happy grow up.  The ‘Leap’ Body Education Programme encourages children to express their life experience, emotion and imagination through music, body and posture creation, drama etc.  based on their own life experience.

In  2011, our school started to bring in the  ‘Practical Life’ curriculum of the Montessori Education’ , using various practical teaching tools in our daily lives and settings to help children consolidate and apply various foundation skills, cultivate and develop children’s learning capabilities in different aspects including self-care, independence, concentration, fine motor skills, coordination, tools operation skills, sense of order, as well as the ability to care for oneself, others and the environment.
